Frequently Asked Questions.

Do I have to have a family to join?

Not at all! We love having singles to great grand parents and everything in between! Think of Florida Freedom Family as just one big intergenerational family with the crazy uncles, loud sister in laws, and children finding silly tricks to play on their fun loving grandpa with a side of a fun neighbor or two. We’re here for everyone and every stage of life!

How do I find people in my area?

Once you join, add yourself to our Telegram group and introduce yourself and where you live! Hopefully we have someone already in your area! If we don’t, the books we have listed “Find Your People” or “Build Your Tribe” can help you get started with ideas for finding people in your area. We also have a private “Extended Family Members” password protected part of the site that gives you access to lists of people in your county who might be open to joining you tribe!

(We are also possibly looking at creating our own neighborhoods or homeschool pods in 2024 so we have sort of “safe havens” all around the state.)

Do I need to read the parenting book?

“Hunt, Gather, Parent” is an excellent book that takes us back to the foundations of parenting. Even if your children are grown or you don’t have any yet, it’s the foundation of how we are parenting in Florida Freedom Family. If we’re going to live in community, we’re going to need a culture for our parenting. We still HIGHLY recommend that you read this book so you can be an amazing alloparent within your tribe, village, and state wide community.

Do these books have audio versions?

All of the books except for the teen book are available as audiobook and in Spanish.

I’m not much of a reader. Do I need to read all the books listed?

Nope! In 2024, we’re transitioning the books to a library section of the membership part of the site. Instead, we’ll have Guide Books available that will guide you down the same journey with action steps to take after. The Guide Books are very visual with space for answering introspective questions about yourself and coming up with your action plans almost “mad-libs” style.
