Build Your Tribe
We’ve lost the foundation of our society, let’s bring that back.
Most cultures have certain ways of doing things, raising children, and how they help their community that they’re actively involved with. With our busy schedules, families being torn apart all day, and extended families living so far away from each other…we’ve lost our center.
But that doesn’t mean we can’t create our own tribe! When we started with FFF we began by reading these three books to get our culture & tribes started. If you’re not ready to join Florida Freedom Family, but want to read the same books we did to get a feel for what we’re doing…they’re listed below.
1 on 1 Relationships
Shaunti has great tips and steps for getting going with this thirty day challenge to improve any relationship you want improved! (This is a religious book, but her understanding of human behavior and the sheer thousands of people she surveyed who did this challenge is a fantastic eye opener to anyone reading it!) She also has other books we’ll be recommending later on!
Available in English, Audiobook, & Español
The Kindness Challenge
PARENTING WITHIN COMMUNITY
Michaeleen does a fabulous job teaching us how families in hunter/gatherer communities parent amongst community. You might completely change how you parent after reading this book! (Even if you are single or have raised your children…this is a great book to read since so many in our communities we’re forming will be following this book and you’ll be a great community member or alloparent for them!)

Hunt, Gather, Parent
BUILDING YOUR TRIBE
Jennie’s writing and experiences come with great insight we’ll use when building our own communities. She’s great at describing what it felt like being way out of her comfort zone…and gives you a blue print of what to expect as you build your own tribe in the United States. (It’s religious, but her ups and downs are something we’ll all experience.)
Available in English, Audiobook, & Español
Find Your People
OR
Build Your Village
Florence has spent her life living in villages and finding new ways to build her village in new cities she has lived in with in the United States!
She has great tips for finding your villagers, great introspective questions to ask yourself before building your tribe, and great ways to connect without religion being involved!
Available in English & Audiobook
By now you’ll need your fire pit and an open mind to start getting ready to build your tribe! You can support a freedom loving fire pit business by buying your fire pit here.
For the Teens
Jonathan and his daughter Alyssa make a great team writing this book that encourages teens to physically get together instead of obsessing over their phones and social media.
Alyssa’s insights into problems she’s had and Jonathan’s encouragement to parents to be involved in their teen’s life and their friends lives is a breath of fresh air. It is a religious book, but both authors come at with a great desire to help future generations. Your teen will enjoy the read.
For Kiddos & the Family
Inspired by the books by Laura Ingalls Wilder (her daughter Rose Wilder Lane is considered one of the founding mothers of libertarianism in the US) this series does an amazing job showing how a community, largely without government, can come together and help each other through the trials of being settlers on a prairie. Your whole family will love this heart warming series.
Once you have read through the “Find Your People” OR “Build Your Village” book…you’re ready to start building your tribe! Check out this blog post for more details!
On another note, we’ve had some families reach out who have difficult circumstances. Marriages are in shambles or family members refuse to prep…etc…a blog post was written hoping to offer some help.
When I am commanded to love, I am commanded to restore community, to resist injustice, and to meet the needs of my brothers.
